چکیده
In this note we give a short and elementary proof of more general version Whitney’s theorem that 3-connected planar graphs have unique embedding in the plane. A consequence is also cubic plane cannot be embedded higher genus with simple dual. The aim paper to promote proof, which especially well suited for lectures presenting theorem.

Higman ’ s Embedding Theorem . An Elementary Proof
In 1961 G. Higman proved a remarkable theorem establishing a deep connection between the logical notion of recursiveness and questions about finitely presented groups. The basic aim of the present paper is to provide the reader with a rigorous and detailed proof of Higman’s Theorem. All the necessary preliminary material, including elements of group theory and recursive functions theory, is sys...
متن کاملA truly elementary proof of Bertrand’s theorem
Bertrand’s theorem is a surprising conclusion of Newtonian mechanics, which states that only the attractive linear and inverse-square forces can yield closed, if bounded, orbits. (For an English translation of Bertrand’s paper, see Santos et al.; for a near-transcription of Bertrand’s proof using modern notation, see Greenberg.) Since the harmonic potential cannot be physically extended over as...
متن کاملA simple proof of Zariski's Lemma
Our aim in this very short note is to show that the proof of the following well-known fundamental lemma of Zariski follows from an argument similar to the proof of the fact that the rational field $mathbb{Q}$ is not a finitely generated $mathbb{Z}$-algebra.
متن کاملAn Elementary Proof of Lebesgue's Differentiation Theorem
The fact that a continuous monotone function is differentiable almost everywhere was established by Lebesgue in 1904. Riesz gave a completely elementary proof of this theorem in 1932 by using his ’Rising Sun Lemma’. Other than Riesz’s, all the proofs of this theorem utilize measure theory. Also a geometric proof which involves measure theory and sets of measure zero was given by D. Austin. The ...
متن کاملAn Elementary Proof of Marden's Theorem
I call this Marden’s Theorem because I first read it in M. Marden’s wonderful book [6]. But this material appeared previously in Marden’s earlier paper [5]. In both sources Marden attributes the theorem to Siebeck, citing a paper from 1864 [8]. Indeed, Marden reports appearances of various versions of the theorem in nine papers spanning the period from 1864 to 1928. Of particular interest in wh...
